Human Rights Law

Human Rights Law is a body of international and national legal norms that aims to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals. It encompasses a range of rights, including civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, and is designed to ensure that all people are treated with dignity, equality, and justice. Human Rights Law is grounded in various international treaties, declarations, and customary international law, with key instruments including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

This area of law addresses violations of human rights by both state and non-state actors, providing mechanisms for accountability and redress for individuals whose rights have been infringed. It also includes principles regarding non-discrimination, the right to life and liberty, freedom of expression, and the right to a fair trial, among others. Human Rights Law seeks to promote and protect individual rights globally, and it is enforced through various legal frameworks across different jurisdictions, often involving courts, tribunals, and international organizations.
