Mozambique

Mozambique is a country located in southeastern Africa, bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west, and South Africa and Eswatini to the southwest. Its capital city is Maputo. Mozambique is known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse ecosystems, and varied landscapes, including coastlines, savannas, and mountainous regions. The country has an official language of Portuguese, a legacy of its colonial past when it was a Portuguese overseas territory until gaining independence in 1975. Mozambique has a mixed economy, with agriculture, fisheries, and tourism playing significant roles, as well as emerging industries such as natural gas and coal. The nation’s history is marked by colonialism, a prolonged civil war, and ongoing development challenges.
