Rwanda
Rwanda is a landlocked country located in East-Central Africa. It is bordered by Uganda to the north, Tanzania to the east, Burundi to the south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Rwanda is known for its mountainous terrain, earning it the nickname “the Land of a Thousand Hills.” The capital and largest city is Kigali. The country has a population characterized by various ethnic groups, predominantly the Hutu and Tutsi. Rwanda has a complex history, particularly noted for the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Since then, Rwanda has made significant strides in terms of development, governance, and economic growth, becoming one of the most stable countries in Africa. The official languages are Kinyarwanda, French, and English. Rwanda is also recognized for its conservation efforts, particularly with endangered species like the mountain gorilla.
