Timor-Leste
Timor-Leste, also known as East Timor, is a sovereign nation located in Southeast Asia. It occupies the eastern half of the island of Timor, sharing the western part with Indonesia. The country consists of the main island of Timor, the nearby islands of Atauro and Jaco, and the enclave of Oecusse located within Indonesian territory. Timor-Leste gained independence from Indonesia in 2002, becoming one of the newest countries in the world. Its capital is Dili. The official languages are Tetum and Portuguese. The nation has a diverse culture, heavily influenced by Portuguese colonial history and indigenous traditions, and its economy is primarily based on oil and gas resources, agriculture, and tourism.
